AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam is the capital of Netherlands.  Amsterdam, which means "Dam on the River Amstel" is the most populated city in Netherlands.  It is also referred to as "the Venice of the North" because of the large number of canals that crisscross the city.  The canals are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Over the last decade, Amsterdam has become an entry hub to Europe with many airlines using the city as a transit point for passengers heading to Europe or the Middle East.  Apart from the canals, Amsterdam offers a lot for travelers to see in the city.  Amsterdam attracts over a million visitors every year due to its heritage sites, museums and nightlife.

A visit to Amsterdam can also be combined with a visit to Brussels or to other cities in Netherlands such as Ghent, Bruges or Rotterdam.
