BANGKOK
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. Officially known as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, it is also the most populous city in Thailand (10 million approx.). Located in central Thailand in the Chao Phraya Delta, Bangkok traces its roots to the Ayuthaya Kingdom in the 15th Century. It has been a part of many historical events over the years.
The investment boom of the 1980's & 90's resulted in Bangkok becoming the regional headquarters of many MNC's in Asia. Today, Bangkok is a regional force in finance, business and pop culture. It is an international hub for transport and healthcare and is known for its street life and cultural landmarks. The Grand Palace and Buddhist temples stand in contrast with the nightlife scene, making Bangkok one of the world's top tourist destinations.
